Our Healthy Food 4 Kids program works to put healthy food directly into the homes of local elementary school students. After a school is chosen, we coordinate with the administrators to set up a distribution date. On that date, we have hundreds of pounds of fresh produce delivered directly to the school. With the assistance of volunteers, we bag the produce and then hand it to the students as their parents pick them up. Each bag of produce also contains handouts that provide ideas as to how to prepare the produce as well as recommendations for sleep, physical activity, and healthy snacks. Introducing children to healthy foods at a young age can increase the likelihood of them adopting healthier eating habits into adulthood.
